Overview
Your campus platform allows you to guide members in configuring their Learning Paths with three distinct privacy levels: Public, Private, or Secret. This article teaches you how to help your Campus Members understand and implement Privacy settings for their Learning Paths.
Campus Map Context: This is a Phase 2 feature – essential for creating paid cohorts and maintaining exclusive member experiences that justify premium pricing.
Teaching Members to Configure Learning Path Privacy
Guide your Campus Members to set up privacy controls for their Learning Paths by walking them through these steps:
Step 1: Navigate to Learning Paths
Direct members to:
- Go to the Learning Paths section from the campus navbar
- Open their Desired Learning Path by clicking the tab where they want to configure privacy
Alternatively, they can create a new Learning Path by clicking the New Learning Path button in the top right corner.
Teaching Tip for 45+ Audience: Use specific navigation language like "Click the blue button in the top right corner" rather than assuming tech familiarity.
Step 2: Access Privacy Settings
Have members:
- Click the Edit Lesson button in the top right corner
- Click the Edit button in the top left corner
- Locate the Privacy option under General Settings
- Click the dropdown arrow to reveal privacy options
The Three Privacy Levels Explained
Help your members understand which privacy setting serves their business model:
Public Learning Paths
Best for: Lead magnets, free mini-courses, content marketing
When members select Public, anyone can view and join the Learning Path for free. This creates top-of-funnel awareness and demonstrates your teaching value.
Business Application:
- Free introductory courses that lead to paid offerings
- Building authority with accessible content
- Growing your email list through valuable free education
Private Learning Paths
Best for: $997+ cohorts, premium memberships, exclusive transformations
When members select Private, the Learning Path becomes locked. Only Campus Members added by the facilitator can access the content.
Teaching 45+ Course Creators: This is your money-maker. Private Learning Paths create the exclusivity that justifies premium pricing.
Lock Screen Options
Members can choose between two lock screen experiences:
Option 1: Default Lock Screen
The platform’s standard lock screen displays automatically for visitors who aren’t enrolled.
Option 2: Custom Lock Screen
Create a customized lock screen that sells the transformation. This is essentially a sales page within your campus.
Customizing the Lock Screen (Sales Page Strategy)
Guide members to open the Lock Screen tab to access customization blocks under Page Blocks:
Available Customization Blocks:
- Banner – Hero section with compelling headline
- Description – Transformation promise and curriculum overview
- Lessons – Preview of what’s inside (builds desire)
- Call to Action – Enrollment button with strategic copy
Editing Each Block:
Members can:
- Click the Pencil Icon to edit content
- Click the Eye Icon to hide blocks they don’t want displayed
- Use Up-Down Arrows to reorder blocks for optimal conversion flow
Example: Customizing the Banner Block
When members click the Edit Icon, the Content tab opens with these options:
a) Heading: Change the main headline
- Teaching Tip: Focus on the transformation, not the features. "Build Your $997 Cohort in 8 Weeks" beats "Course Creation Training"
b) Description: Add compelling body text
- Teaching Tip: Use the Description Text editor to add detailed benefit-driven copy
c) Button Label: Customize the CTA button text
- Teaching Tip: Use action-oriented language like "Claim Your Spot" instead of generic "Enroll Now"
d) Button Link: Add the URL where visitors should go after clicking
- Strategic Use: Link to your payment page, application form, or waitlist
Design Tab Customization:
Guide members through visual branding options:
a) Background Image: Upload a professional image that represents the transformation
- Teaching Tip: Use images of your target audience (45+ professionals) achieving results, not stock photos of 25-year-olds
b) Overlay Color: Add a semi-transparent color overlay to improve text readability
c) Heading Color: Ensure the headline stands out against the background
d) Text Color: Adjust description text for readability
e) Button Label Color: Make the CTA button text visible and clickable
f) Button Background: Use contrasting colors that draw the eye
Important: Members must click Save Changes & Close to preserve all customizations.
Secret Learning Paths
Best for: Invitation-only masterminds, beta cohorts, VIP experiences
When members select Secret, the Learning Path is completely hidden from browse pages. Only invited Campus Members can view and participate.
Business Application:
- High-ticket mastermind groups ($5K+)
- Beta testing new curriculum with founding members
- VIP-only bonus content for top-tier members
Teaching 45+ Audience: Think of Secret Learning Paths like an unlisted phone number – it exists, but only people you personally invite can find it.
Implementation Framework
For $997 Cohort Model:
- Create Public free mini-course (builds trust)
- Use Custom Lock Screen on Private paid cohort (converts visitors)
- Offer Secret VIP bonus path for students who complete paid program (increases perceived value)
Reminder: Always click Save Changes & Close after selecting privacy settings to ensure changes are saved.
