The Graphics Problem No One Talks About
Every course creator, educator, and coach has a stack of content sitting without proper graphics. Social media posts, course announcement images, email headers, webinar banners — all of it takes time, creative skill, and either money or hours in Canva trying to make a template fit your brand.
Google just made that problem a lot easier to solve. It’s called Pomelli, and it works differently than anything else out there.
What Pomelli Is
Pomelli is an experimental AI-powered marketing tool from Google Labs. It creates on-brand marketing graphics automatically — not from templates you customize, but from your actual brand DNA.
The key difference: instead of you bringing your brand to a template (the Canva model), Pomelli extracts your brand from your website first, then builds everything from that foundation.
It’s currently free to use during the experimental phase. Find it at labs.google.com/experiments — it’s the first one listed.
How to Set It Up
Step 1: Create your Business DNA. When you first sign up, Pomelli asks for your website URL. It scans your site and automatically pulls your logos, fonts, colors, brand values, tone of voice, and business overview. This becomes your “brand DNA” — the foundation for everything it creates afterward.
Step 2: Review and edit the DNA. The scan isn’t always perfect. Go through each section and make sure the brand aesthetic, tone, and business overview accurately reflect what you do and who you serve. The more accurate this is, the better your graphics will be.
Step 3: Create a campaign. Hit “Campaigns” and describe what you need in plain language. Examples:
- “Create social media posts to announce my new live workshop”
- “Design email header images for a course launch”
- “Make a set of Instagram story graphics for a limited-time offer”
Pomelli generates multiple campaign variations based on your description and your brand DNA — not generic templates.
Step 4: Review and customize. Each campaign gives you several graphic options. You can swap images, change headers, edit description text, and adjust the call to action. Everything is editable. A “Fix Layout” tool corrects positioning issues automatically.
Step 5: Download and use. When you’re happy with a graphic, download it directly. No separate export settings or file size juggling.
It knows from my brand DNA where it’s coming from — I didn’t come up with the last part, it does.
What This Covers for Your Education Business
Pomelli handles the marketing graphics you need on a regular basis:
- Course announcement and launch posts
- Early bird and pricing deadline graphics
- Webinar registration images
- Email header banners
- Behind-the-scenes story graphics
- YouTube thumbnails (using your brand colors and style)
- Carousel images for Instagram or LinkedIn
Anything that used to require creative skill, time in Canva, or hiring a designer can now be generated from a plain-language description.
What to Keep in Mind
Pomelli is still in the experiment phase. That means it’s free right now and will keep getting better. The credit-based pricing will eventually kick in, but for now there’s no cost to set up your brand DNA and start generating graphics.
Think of it this way: you’re not learning a new tool, you’re handing off a job. Describe what you need, let it build, edit what needs adjusting, download and publish.
Your Next Step
Go to labs.google.com/experiments, open Pomelli, and enter your website URL. Setup takes about 10 minutes. You’ll walk away with your brand DNA locked in and your first set of graphics ready to download.
