Teaching? You Are About To Face Your Biggest Threat

Teaching? You Are About To Face Your Biggest Threat

Live Learning 💡 Concept Tutorial ↺ 25 min Mar 14, 2026

The Threat Is Already Here

James Maduk from TrainingSites.io spent 45 minutes with a college professor during a VIP campus builders session. Together, they built a Claude Cowork plugin that completely prepares a live class — agenda, activities, resources, use cases, and a 13-slide PowerPoint presentation — from a single topic title.

It took 7–10 minutes to run.

That’s the threat. Not AI replacing teachers in some future scenario. AI replacing the content delivery function of teaching right now, today, for $20/month.

What the Plugin Actually Did

Starting from just the topic “Creating Your First Claude Skill,” the Live Class Prep plugin produced:

  • Class agenda — A 60-minute structured Zoom agenda with timed sections: welcome, demo, Q&A checkpoint, guided practice, hot seat review, close
  • Activities — Fill-in-the-blank frameworks, hot seat skill reviews, speed setup challenges
  • Resources — Curated links to actual Claude documentation and tools with descriptions
  • Use cases — Real-world application examples matched to the topic
  • PowerPoint presentation — 13 slides with speaker notes, formatted and structured
  • Tutorial draft — Published to WordPress in draft status, ready for review

No notes provided. No rough outline. Just a topic title and a slash command.

“I don’t like — this is the stuff that any kind of plugin or department that you want, you can create for your business and it’s going to do all of this work on your behalf.” — James Maduk

The Part That Changes Everything

Here’s what James wants you to sit with for a moment: this plugin doesn’t just save teachers time. It makes the teacher’s core function — preparing and delivering content — available to anyone with $20/month and a topic title.

Your students can run it. Your course purchasers can run it. Anyone in your subject area with access to Claude Cowork can generate the same class materials you’d spend hours preparing.

That’s not a warning about the future. That’s the current state of 2026.

If your value as an educator is primarily in the content you deliver and the explanations you give, you are now competing with a system that never gets tired, doesn’t need prep time, and costs $20/month. The old job — textbook narrator — is done.

The Shift: Textbook Narrator to Personal Trainer

James uses one analogy that makes this concrete:

Nobody hires a personal trainer to explain push-ups. They hire a trainer because someone is watching, adjusting, pushing, and deciding what’s next. The trainer gets results. The explanation is just the beginning.

  • AI is the gym equipment — It provides the information, the structure, the content
  • You are the coach — You get results by staying with people until they finish

“The real product now is: don’t teach me how. Stay with me until it works.” — James Maduk

The shift in what you’re selling:

  • Old value: lessons → New value: live guidance
  • Old value: modules → New value: milestones
  • Old value: information → New value: interpretation
  • Old value: curriculum → New value: decisions
  • Old value: completion → New value: outcomes
  • Old value: answers → New value: judgment

What AI Can’t Replace — and What You Need to Protect

AI can suggest. It cannot care if you follow through. That’s the gap — and it’s the entire business.

Here’s what remains irreplaceable about a skilled educator or coach:

  • Accountability — Showing up for someone consistently and expecting them to do the same
  • Confidence-building — Recognizing when someone is capable but doesn’t believe it yet
  • Judgment calls — Knowing which path is right for this specific person in this specific situation
  • Interpretation — Taking abstract AI output and making it real and applicable to someone’s actual context
  • Staying power — Being there for the messy middle, not just the clean start

💡 In plain English: AI removes the need for instruction and prep. AI increases the need for guidance. The more powerful AI gets, the more valuable a skilled human guide becomes — if you position yourself that way.

How to Build This Plugin for Your Own Classes

The Live Class Prep plugin James built is available for download. But here’s how the process works so you can build your own version or adapt it for your specific context:

  1. Open Claude Cowork — Click Plugins in the sidebar, then New
  2. Describe what you need — Tell it: “Help me create a plugin for preparing live classes. I need: class agenda, activities, resources, use cases, and a PowerPoint presentation.”
  3. Add context — Specify your audience, the platform where you publish (FluentCommunity, Canvas, Blackboard, etc.), and any specific output formats you need
  4. Let it build — The plugin creation skill will ask clarifying questions and build the department structure
  5. Add it to your plugins — Once built, add it with one click and it’s available via slash command
  6. Run it on your first class topic — Type /prep-class [your topic] and let the department go to work

Check Your Work: After the first run, review all five outputs. Check the PowerPoint structure, verify the resource links are accurate, and confirm the agenda timing makes sense for your class format. Refine the plugin based on what you find.

The Golden Opportunity Inside the Threat

Here’s what James sees that most educators miss: the plugin doesn’t just automate your class prep. It’s also a product you can sell, give to other educators, or use to differentiate your teaching offer.

If you’re running a course on a topic and you have a custom plugin that prepares high-quality class materials from that topic — you’ve just created a value layer that AI tools alone can’t replicate. You’re not selling information. You’re selling the system, the accountability, and the expertise to use the system well.

The educators who will win aren’t the ones who ignore what AI can do. They’re the ones who automate everything AI can do and spend their time on what only they can provide.

The Bottom Line

If you give James any topic, he can generate all of the class prep for it in 7 minutes. So can your students. So can anyone with Claude Cowork. The question isn’t whether this technology exists — it does, right now. The question is what you do with that reality.

Build the plugin. Use the plugin. Spend the time you save doing the thing AI can’t do: staying with your students until it actually works.
