What to Watch Out For as an Educator
If you’re discussing client names, business details, student information, or anything confidential, be thoughtful about what you type into any AI tool. Assume the conversation could be stored and potentially reviewed.
This isn’t a reason to avoid AI — it’s a reason to use it the same way you’d use any cloud service: don’t put information in it that you’d be uncomfortable with someone else seeing.
How to Control Your Data
Most major AI platforms give you options. You can typically turn off conversation history, opt out of training data usage, and delete past conversations. These settings are usually in your account privacy settings.
If you need stricter data privacy — for example, if you work with clients in regulated industries — look for enterprise tiers or API-based tools where data handling agreements are explicit and binding.
